Vote for Canada National Flower
The National Flower Contest ended on a high note on June 30th at midnight. MGOI received about 20% of the total number of 9,778 votes in the last week, and votes were coming in every hour right up to the deadline. To no one’s surprise, Bunchberry was the clear popular favourite, with 79.5% of the vote. We declared the winner on Canada Day on MGOI’s Facebook page, and a petition has been set up on the Govt of Canada e-petition website.
There is still much work to do to get the result named as our “Official National Flower”. Thank you to everyone who helped promote the contest and the hard work that MGs do to educate the public on good gardening practices.
